Das Stadt Land Food - Festival für gutes Essen und gute Landwirtschaft findet alle zwei Jahre in Berlin statt. Es ist eine alternative Leistungsschau der bäuerlichen Landwirtschaft und des Lebensmittelhandwerks, ein Kulturfest und eine Plattform für den politischen Dialog.

Jedes Jahr im Januar treffen sich viele tausend Menschen aus ganz Deutschland in Berlin und demonstrieren unter dem Motto »Wir haben es satt!« gegen die Industrialisierung der Landwirtschaft. Sie fordern eine andere Agrarpolitik in Europa: »Gutes Essen. Gute Landwirtschaft«.

Seit Beginn der Bewegung gab es in der Markthalle Neun ein Rahmenprogramm für die Demo und den Ansatz, die bäuerliche Landwirtschaft und das Lebensmittelhandwerk als positive Alternative zu präsentieren. Allerdings wächst im Januar auf den Feldern wenig, das man zeigen könnte. So ist die Idee für Stadt Land Food entstanden.

Das Festival fand – in bewusster Abgrenzung zu bestehenden Messe-Formaten – auf den Straßen, in den Hinterhöfen, Schulen, Turnhallen, Kneipen und der Markthalle von Kreuzberg statt. Wir holen das Thema Landwirtschaft in den städtischen Raum.

Neben einem großen Erzeugermarkt mit Anbietern von handwerklich hergestellten Lebensmitteln und einem Street Food Markt gibt themenbezogene Werkstätten. Hier wird Mehl gemahlen, Brot gebacken, Wurst und Käse gemacht und Schnaps gebrannt.

Das Netzwerk "Meine Landwirtschaft" hält zeitgleich im Rahmen des Festivals einen mehrtägigen Kongress zur zukunftsfähigen Landwirtschaft und Esskultur ab.

Der kulturelle Aspekt des Festivals wird durch Programmpunkte, wie eine Filmreihe, Theaterinterventionen, Ausstellungen und Musik erlebbar gemacht. Aktionen wie die Schnippeldisko oder ein gemeinsamer Erntedank-Gottesdienst waren ebenfalls Teil des Programms.

The Stadt Land Food - Festival for good food and good farming is an alternative exhibition of small scale agriculture and artisan food, a cultural festival and a platform for political dialogue.

Every January, thousands of people from all over Germany meet in Berlin to protest against industrialized agriculture. With the slogan "Wir haben es satt!" ("We're Fed Up!") they march (and tractor) through the city to demand a change in European agricultural policy: Good Food. Good Farming.

Markthalle Neun has supported the movement from the beginning with events framing the protest, and with its own approach to present regional farm produce and artisan food as a positive alternative. But in January, the fields aren't growing much that can be presented...and so the idea for an alternative food and farming festival was born, connecting the urban and the rural food spaces.

Consciously diverging from the common trade show format, the festival takes place in the streets of Kreuzberg, its backyards, schools, gymnasiums, bars, and at Markthalle Neun. We want to bring the subject of agriculture into the urban space.

Besides a large artisan food producer's market and a street food market, there are workshops, where residents and visitors can mill flour, bake bread, make sausage and cheese and distill schnapps.

As part of the festival, the campaign network "Meine Landwirtschaft" ("My Agriculture") holds a convention on sustainable agriculture and food culture.

Cultural programm like a film series, improvisation theater, exhibits and music round out the cultural program, and events such as the Schnippeldisko (Disco Soup) and the annual harvest celebration church service are also on the menu.
